Marketing & Data Convention
Anna Montero29/04/2026On 29 April, we hosted our final professional event of the academic year: the Marketing & Data Convention. This full-day programme brought together students and industry professionals to explore how data continues to shape decision-making, creativity, and innovation in modern marketing.
Throughout the day, four leading companies delivered interactive workshops, each offering a unique perspective on the role of data within their organisation. More importantly, students had the opportunity to actively apply their knowledge to real-world business challenges.
We kicked off the day with a workshop by Boston Consulting Group. Students were introduced to the company and its approach to data driven consulting before diving into two strategic case prompts. Working in teams, they developed and delivered concise pitches, focusing on structured thinking, business impact, and clear communication under time pressure.

The second workshop was hosted by Nederlandse Loterij, who offered an engaging look into how gamification plays a key role in their marketing strategy. The session itself was designed as an interactive bingo experience, allowing students to win lottery tickets while learning how game mechanics can drive engagement and influence consumer behaviour.

Next, Optimizely led a highly hands-on session focused on experimentation and digital communication. After a brief introduction to their optimisation platform, students were challenged to create and pitch a personalised email proposal to a CEO of their choice, aimed at initiating a potential collaboration. Each team presented their ideas, with a winning concept selected based on creativity, relevance, and strategic execution.

The day concluded with a workshop by DVJ Insights, who demonstrated how data is used to evaluate and enhance advertising effectiveness across international markets. Students analysed and rated various advertisements, gaining valuable insight into how consumer perception and cultural differences influence marketing performance.

During the breaks, participants also had the opportunity to unwind and connect through several games provided by the EE association, adding an extra interactive and social element to the day.
After the workshops, the event transitioned into a company fair, where students had the opportunity to connect with all participating companies in a more informal setting. While enjoying snacks and drinks, conversations continued, ideas were exchanged, and valuable connections were made.
Overall, the convention delivered a dynamic mix of learning, collaboration, and friendly competition. It provided students with valuable exposure to how leading organisations leverage data in practice across diverse industries.

We would like to sincerely thank all participating students for their energy, curiosity, and active engagement throughout the day. A special thank you goes to our partner companies: Boston Consulting Group, Nederlandse Loterij, Optimizely, and DVJ Insights, for sharing their expertise and delivering such insightful and inspiring workshops.
We look back on a successful final event and hope to see you at future MAEUR events!
