Study Trip

From 10–13 April, our marketing association from Rotterdam travelled to Madrid for an unforgettable study trip that combined academic inspiration, professional development, and plenty of opportunities to experience the city together.

During our time in Madrid, we had the chance to explore one of Europe’s most vibrant and dynamic capitals. Early in the trip, we took part in a city tour, which gave us a broader understanding of Madrid’s culture, history, and atmosphere. Walking through the city allowed us to discover its unique character, from its lively streets and architecture to its local traditions and everyday city life. Beyond the organised activities, we spent time exploring different neighbourhoods, visiting well-known sights, and experiencing everything Madrid has to offer.

Of course, a study trip is not only about learning but also about creating memorable experiences together. One of the highlights of the social programme was the pub golf evening, which gave everyone the opportunity to enjoy Madrid’s nightlife in a fun and interactive way. Throughout the trip, the group spent a lot of time together, strengthening connections and getting to know fellow members outside of the usual university environment.

Alongside the social and cultural elements, the trip also included a professional and educational component. On the final day, we visited an incubator in Madrid, where we learned more about the role incubators play within the startup and innovation ecosystem. During the visit, we gained insight into how incubators support entrepreneurs and early-stage companies by providing resources, guidance, networks, and opportunities for growth. It was interesting to see how innovative ideas are developed into viable businesses and to better understand the environment that helps startups succeed.

The visit offered a valuable perspective on entrepreneurship and innovation, while also connecting to themes that are relevant within marketing and business. It gave us the opportunity to reflect on how creativity, strategy, and collaboration come together in a professional setting.

Overall, the study trip to Madrid was a great combination of learning, cultural exploration, and social activities. Over four days, we not only discovered a new city but also gained new insights, strengthened friendships, and created experiences that will stay with us long after returning to Rotterdam.
