Inhouseday at SchaalX

On Wednesday the 6th of November, 15 members of MAEUR were welcomed at the office of SchaalX in Utrecht for an insightful Inhouse Day. 

Introduction

The day kicked off with a brief introduction about SchaalX; they offer 2-year traineeships, which offers their trainees the chance to work on 2-3 projects at various companies during that period. This offers these starters the opportunity to explore multiple job paths before deciding which one they want to pursue. During their 2-year stay they are also mentored and guided to help them figure out which aspects of a job they deem most important and how they can develop themselves professionally. 

Masterclass

After the introduction, the attendees followed an insightful masterclass by Ment Kuiper, who coaches the trainees and is an expert when it comes to (digital) marketing trends. To start off the masterclass, he asked us to think about how our digital media consumption had changed recently, because he explained that “if you don’t understand your own changes in behaviour, you can’t understand those of the consumer”. During the masterclass he also challenged us to think about various questions related to consumer trends. For example, he used the example of how mobile phones were not even a thing about 25 years ago and now our whole lives revolve around our smartphones. Moreover, he explained that often legislation is lagging behind the changes that are taking place in society, which often leads to problems. It was a very informative session, from which the attendees learned a lot. 

Speed Dating

After the masterclass, there were four rounds of speed dating with current SchaalX trainees. During these rounds, the MAEUR students could ask all their questions about the experiences during the traineeships, the challenges they faced and which projects they did. Since all the trainees have worked for different companies during their time at SchaalX, they could paint a great picture of the various projects one could end up with. 

Networking Drinks

At the end of the day, there was time for network drinks with the representatives of SchaalX which gave the students the chance to ask their final questions before heading home to Rotterdam.
